I first found out about Medium a few months ago, from James Altucher’s book Side Hustle Bible. He challenged readers to write an article a day for 30 days. I had successfully completed another challenge of his, which I read about on his blog, and wrote about here: 30 Faces In 30 Days Photo Challenge

The first article I published was something I had written a while back, The Quarter Map. It was one of my favorite stories.

It got some claps, and I noticed the word Family at the top of the page, then came to find out what that meant. My very first story had been curated. Whoa. Pretty exciting stuff.

A few days later (I hadn’t quite kept up with the 30 stories in 30 days thing), I wrote something new, and again, CURATED! This time, in the Photography category. Beautiful Holiday Bokeh

A few days later, another one! Three out of my first four articles were curated. Oh my gosh, how fun is this! I’m hooked now.

Then came the long dry spell — lots of published stories, with a smattering of claps, but nothing curated. Thinking it was all beginners luck, I was kind of frustrated. Maybe that’s all I had in me, those first few stories.
