The relationship started quickly after our first match.com date. He described himself as “quirky”, and that he was. He was also cute in a scruffy kind of way, with an irreverent sense of humor. His knowledge of music was vast, as was his collection of marijuana vaping devices.
He was the kind of guy who didn’t give a fuck about what other people thought, and I suppose I was a bit drawn to that since I’m the opposite. He was definitely in the bad boy category.
It was a particularly vulnerable time for me, and I was ripe for the pickin’. He came on strong, and within a month we were exchanging “I love you”s.
We didn’t become Facebook friends right away, but a quick scan of what I could see publicly showed some rather controversial stuff — mostly posts about Middle Eastern politics that I didn’t understand. He was a non-practicing Jew, who (I discovered through reading his posts) fancied himself more of a Zionist. I had no idea what any of this meant.
Then we became Facebook friends and I could see everything. Again, I did not understand a lot of it, hence did not have an opinion either way.
