Step Away From The Bad News

Because life is still good

There is a glut of bad, even horrific, news reported in recent days. Locally and nationally, recent events are devastatingly depressing. I cried last night hearing the details of one local story. Totally messed-up stuff, perpetrated by evil human beings.

But we can turn off the TV. We can stop reading the news online. We can take a break. It’s necessary for our sanity. Especially now.

It’s not putting your head in the sand. It’s about regaining peace.

Because there are fucked-up people in the world. It’s a sad fact. These people are an infinitesimally small percentage of the population, but they are the people creating the stories we hear about. An incredibly small percentage of the people create the news that makes us gasp, and ruins our day. And the other 99.999% of people are just going about their business, trying to have a good and peaceful life.

But the fact is, the more horrible the story, the better. Freaky and fucked-up stuff sells, and it’s what people want to hear about, sadly. And, well, it has to be reported, after all.

I mean, if we are human, and we hear about the shocking circumstances of some of these stories, it would be weird not to be disturbed on a deep level. This shit should affect our day in a negative…
