The Hybrid Diet That WORKS

What I’ve learned from 3 decades of dieting.

I’ve been on so many “diets” over the years. I lose 25 pounds, I gain 25 (or more) pounds. Lather, rinse, repeat. The thing is, I love food. But I also love looking good in my size 8 skinny jeans. Now, that size might still be considered a bit thick to some, but like I say, I love food.

The first time I lost a significant amount of weight was on was Weight Watchers. This was way back about 30 years ago, when you carried around a little pamphlet and checked off the things you ate. There were boxes for protein, carbs, and fat. Fruit, vegetables, and water had their own section, and you were required to eat everything so as to fill in all the squares (the program is totally different now, and also excellent). Of course, you were allowed a limited amount of the good stuff, including fruit, but some things were unlimited, like carrots and canned pumpkin. I actually turned orange from eating so many carrots. And canned pumpkin doesn’t sound too good until you’re starving (it’s actually not bad with stevia and pumpkin spice, warmed).

Anyway, Weight Watchers taught me how much of the bad stuff I was previously eating on a regular basis. It’s amazing how much fat you can consume when you aren’t paying attention. Same with carbs…and those two things together, delish, but oh so…
